Youth Songwriting at The Bailey

Join the Steve Marc Band for a Free Youth Songwriting workshop for ages 8-16 at the Bailey Theatre in Trail on October 17, 2026.

Participants will spend the morning/early afternoon learning about music, song structure and guide your child through the songwriting process to write their own new song. They will then perform their new song in a showcase on the Bailey Stage backed up by the Steve Marc Band.
The showcase will include some guest artists and a Steve Marc Band performance as well.

$20 General admission to the showcase (parents included).

Steve Marc is a prolific songwriter with over a hundred songs in his name and hundreds more that have been coached with children in Freedom Arts - Rhythm and Songwriting programs throughout BC. Freedom Arts was co-founded by Steve with program leader Angela Roy and their band Barefoot Caravan in 2014 at Edge of the World Festival in Haida Gwaii, BC. The program has been hosted throughout the province at various festivals, schools and other community events. These programs are always a hit; very much enjoyed and appreciated by event organizers, parents and children everywhere they’ve been held.

Steve Marc now has his own band and team of songwriters who have seen wonderful successes at Woodstove Festival (Cumberland) and Harmony Festival (Slocan). We would love to help coach your children in writing their own song to perform at the Bailey Theatre.

This free program runs on Saturday October 17 from (10am - 2:30pm) with the generous support of the Bailey Theatre and the Columbia Basin Trust via the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance

Showtime: 3:00pm
$20 general admission to the showcase for all spectators including parents

Limited intake, approximately 24 Kids max

Open to youth aged 8 - 16
